  • Biography

    Tairong Kuang, is currently serving as a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the College of Materials Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT). He is also the Deputy Director of the Institute of Polymer Materials and Engineering and the Head of the Functional Polymers and Advanced Materials Laboratory (FPAM Lab). Dr. Kuang obtained his Ph.D. through a joint training program between South China University of Technology (SCUT) and The Ohio State University (OSU), USA.

    Research Interests

    Multiphase/Multiscale Functional Polymer Materials: Structural Design, Processing Control, and Device Applications


    Research Focus

    • Interface and Phase Behavior Regulation in Multiphase Systems: Optimizing nanoparticle dispersion, interfacial compatibilization, and phase separation stability to enhance the performance of multiphase polymer materials.

    • Multiscale Structural Construction and Advanced Processing: Leveraging composite external field-assisted crystallization control and precise pore structure modulation via supercritical CO₂ foaming to construct hierarchical structures across multiple scales.

    • Functional Device Development and Application Expansion: Designing high-performance polymer-based materials for electronic information, urban low-altitude economy, flexible electronics, and biomedical applications.

    • Waste Recycling and High-Value Utilization: Addressing circular economy challenges by recovering, extracting, and repurposing industrial waste materials such as waste plastics, discarded electronic components, and spent lithium-ion batteries, facilitating resource recycling and the implementation of green manufacturing strategies.

    Scientific Achievements

    • Published over 80 SCI papers in leading journals such as Advanced Materials, Chem, Advanced Functional Materials, Advanced Science, and Nano Energy.

    • Authored 13 ESI Highly Cited/Hot Papers with over 7,000 citations.

    • Filed 39 Chinese patents, with 14 granted.

    • Contributed to one book chapter in an international monograph.

    • Recipient of the First Prize of Anhui Province Science and Technology Progress Award.
