  • Biography

    Professor Zaifa Pan received his PhD degree from City University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Peter Tanner in 2008 and has been worked as visiting scholar in the research group of Professor Xiaogang Liu in National University of Singapore for one year.

    My research work focus on luminescent materials, particularly in fluorescent probes for biomarkers detection and phosphor for light energy conversion application.

    1.    Novel fluorescent probes for high sensitivity detection of biomarkers. A series of fluorescent nanoprobes such as long afterglow and up-conversion nanoparticles were synthesized, which effectively eliminated the autofluorescence and excitation light background interference of complex biological samples, and improved the detection sensitivity. A single molecule immunoassay platform was established and used for the ultra-sensitive detection of biomarkers such as Alzheimer's disease markers and tumor markers, which has a wide application prospect in the early diagnosis of disease.

    2.    Light conversion phosphor. Phosphors for white LED solid-state lighting with high color rendering index. NIR phosphor as NIR light source for potential application in NIR spectroscopy and imaging technology with non-damaging and rapid detection characteristics. Persistent materials with multi-color long afterglow for fingerprint recognition and dynamic anti-counterfeiting application.

     

    My research was supported by more than 10 project funding, including the National Natural Science Foundation and the key project of Zhejiang Natural Science Foundation.

     I have authored more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles, including Nature Materials, ACS Applied Materials & Interface, Materials Today ChemistryJournal of Materials Chemistry C, Biosensors and Bioelectronics and Analytica Chimica Acta. Published 1 English monograph and was awarded 17 authorized invention patents, including 1 patent transferred into industrialization as in vitro diagnostic (IVD) reagent.
