Personal Profile
Dr. Zhong-Ting Hu is Vice Dean and Full Professor at Zhejiang University of Technology. He graduated from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore (M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees) and previously worked as a Senior Engineer at NanoMaterials Technology Pte Ltd in Singapore. His research focuses on the design & preparation of multi-metallic functional nanomaterials and its applications in catalytic conversion of resources & energy. He has been honored the 16th Hou Debang Chemical Science and Technology Award "Innovation Award" from the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (CIESC), and the CIESC Science and Technology Award First Prize. He is a candidate for the Ministry of Education's Chang Jiang Scholars Program (Young Scholars), the Zhejiang University of Technology Outstanding Young Talent Support Program.
Dr. Hu has undertaken projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Program of "Microstructural Design of Dislocated Substitution in Spinel Polyhedrons and the Photocarrier Efficiency Enhancement Mechanism", sub-projects of the National Key R&D Program of "Multiscale Construction and Controllable Synthesis of Metallic Active Centers", key R&D projects for enterprises, et al. During his time studying and working in Singapore, he conducted R&D on the industrialization and application of functional nanomaterials under projects achieving industrial applications of nanomaterials (total funding of US$4.3 million). Here are a few cases, (1) the Singapore-Israel Joint National Fund of "Nanoparticle coating materials for improved solar cells" for solar cells by introducing Al-doped ZnO dispersion, (2) the R&D pilot plant project of "Metal-doped ZnO nanoparticle: Effect of particle size on the optical redshift" for antibacterial ceramics, (3) the project joined with Samsung Fine Chemicals Co. Ltd. of "Synthesis and particle size control of LiFePO4 nanoparticles" for battery research.
Dr. Hu's research has been granted 16 authorized invention patents such as "A method for preparing a catalyst with highly dispersed and anchored metal particles based on photothermal coupling subcritical technology and its application", and has 77 publications on top-tier chemical engineering and chemistry journals such as AIChE Journal, Journal of the American Chemical Society, and Applied Catalysis B: Environment and Energy (H-index 30). He was listed as one of the World's Top 2% Scientists by citation in 2022 and 2023. He also serves in academic positions such as the Deputy Director of the Organizing Committee of the International Conference on Advanced Functional Materials and a Guest Editor for Frontiers in Chemical Engineering.
