  • Biography

    Dr. Yuanchen Chen received his Ph.D. from Peking University and conducted academic research as a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on climate change, energy transition, and environmental health.

    He currently serves as the Chinese Focal Point for the BRICS Working Group on New and Renewable Energy, and as the Chinese Coordinator for the policy research project on Major Scientific and Technological Innovation for Green Transition under the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED). He has been recognized as a Young Talent of Zhejiang University of Technology, a 14th Five-Year Plan High-Level Talent Cultivation Candidate, and an Academic Rising Star of the Second Starry Grand Canal Program.

    Dr. Chen is a Youth Editorial Board Member of Eco-Environment & Health, Chair of the 3rd Environment & Health International Academic Forum, and Vice-Chair of the Peking University–ACS Publications International Conference on Environmental Health. He also serves as an expert in the Environmental Engineering Simulation Innovation Track of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee for the National Simulation Innovation Competition.

    To date, he has published over 100 SCI-indexed papers, with more than 7,000 citations and an H-index of 51. Over 30 of these papers were published as first or corresponding author in leading journals such as Environmental Science & Technology and Water Research. He is the lead chapter author of the monograph Frontiers in Environmental Chemistry. He holds one authorized invention patent and has led the development of one group standard.

    Dr. Chen has led six major research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) General and Youth Programs, the Zhejiang Provincial “Pioneer” R&D Program, and the Fundamental Research Funds for Provincial Universities. He has also led three industry-funded collaborative projects and contributed to several national-level initiatives, including the Chinese Academy of Engineering’s strategic project on key engineering pathways for green and low-carbon development and the Second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research Program.
