I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the School of Economics at Zhejiang University of Technology. I am also a Research Fellow of the Global Labor Organization (GLO) and a Workshop Alumnus of the Ronald Coase Institute.
My research lies at the intersection of labor economics, development economics, and political economy. Broadly, I study the relationships among institutions, labor mobility, and economic development. My primary research agenda focuses on the political economy of labor mobility institutions and their implications for labor allocation, demographic change, firm behavior, and long-run development. In particular, I examine how institutional barriers and reforms—including migration restrictions, citizenship access, and population policies—shape individual decisions, organizational outcomes, and broader patterns of economic transformation.
My work has been published in the Journal of Comparative Economics, Canadian Journal of Economics, and China Economic Review. My research has also been presented at major international conferences, including the Econometric Society World Congress, the Annual Meeting of the American Economic Association (AEA), conferences organized by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), and the International Conference on Migration and Development (ICMD).
Before joining Zhejiang University of Technology, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the School of Economics at Zhejiang University (2018–2024). I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Nottingham (2018), my M.A. in Labor Economics from Zhejiang University (2013), and my B.S. in Statistics from Zhejiang University of Finance & Economics (2011).
I actively participate in international academic networks. In 2023, I was selected for the inaugural SOLE Mentoring Program (mentors: Fabian Lange and Uta Schoenberg). In 2024 and 2025, I was invited to present my research at NBER conferences on fertility, entrepreneurship, and place-based policies. I have also presented at the AEA Annual Meeting, the AFD–World Bank International Conference on Migration and Development (ICMD), and the Migration and Organizations Conference hosted by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
In addition to academic research, I have held temporary public-service appointments in both the Beijing Office of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province and the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission, where I gained practical experience in regional development, social policy, and institutional reform.
I serve as a referee for journals including Organization Science, Research Policy, and the Journal of Population Economics.
