Dr. Huawei Zhang received his BS in Food Sciences in 2000 and MS in Food Chemistry in 2003 from Northwest A&F University (China), and PhD in Natural Products Chemistry in 2006 from Nanjing University (China). After a postdoctoral fellow at Nanjing University for two years, he was appointed as a faculty member of Zhejiang University of Technology (China) in April 2008. As a visiting scholar, he stayed at Crews lab (University of California Santa Cruz, US) for one year. From August 2015 to February 2017, he was sent to National Center of Sci & Tech Talents of China as an officer on secondment. He had published over 100 peer-reviewed articles with more than 2,500 cited times and holds more than 20 issued Chinese patents. His research interest mainly focuses on discovery of new microbe-derived functional biomolecules as well as their biosynthetic logic and therapeutic application.
Dr. Huawei Zhang has been appointed as one member of Professional Committee of China Medicinal Fungus Society and Marine Pharmacology Committee of China Pharmacology Society. He was awarded the prize of “MDPI Excellent Reviewer” in 2021 and successively named on the list of “World`s Top 2% Scientists” in the discipline of Medicinal & Biomolecular Chemistry from 2021 to 2023.
